The famous compact SUVs Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4 are comfortable cabins with small footprints of fuel efficiency that are perfect for cruising the busy roads and tight parking spots. Both feature superior fuel efficiency, convenient cabins, and a wide range of dashboard technology and safety devices. How will you pick the right one for yourself with so many things in common between the two vehicles? The differences are in detail.

To help you determine, we've analyzed the top features that shoppers consider when buying a new car.

In style, Toyota has tried very hard to shed his bland, dull look for a more vibrant style, tweaked by trim editions. The TRD off-road and Adventure trims are made with chunkier fenders, while squared-off wheel arches and a tall and broad grille make the other RAV4 models look like a Tacoma pickup truck. Both RAV4 and Rogue update their predecessors' interior features and install a touchscreen atop the dash.

The Rogue style, with more attention on the interior, is less bold on the outside. On the front, the split headlights flank the familiar U-shaped Nissan grille, and rounded wheel arches split by sculpted rocker panels bring some flare. The interior features contrasting materials, including textured metallic components on both the console and the door and artificial wood trim that separates soft-touch materials up and hard plastics below.

As for the engine and transmission, the Nissan Rogue comes with one engine option - a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-four that provides 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. In specs, it's almost the same as the RAV4's, which is also equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four. The difference is that the RAV4 engine produces 22 more horsepower and three lb-ft of torque than the Rogue.

The Toyota RAV4 comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the Nissan Rogue comes with continuously variable automatic transmissions. Both SUVs have standard front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is optional.

When it comes to the mpg ratings, the Rogue and RAV4 provide almost similar figures - the Rogue delivers from 28 to 30 mpg, and the RAV4 produces from 27 to 30 mpg combined.

If you're going to tow a good bit of cargo, you must have a vehicle with great towing capacity. As for the Rogue and RAV4, the figures are the following -the Nissan Rogue provides a powerful towing capacity of 1,102 pounds. So you can tow plenty of cargo behind you with the Rogue. With the RAV4, you'll have less towing capacity - 1,500 pounds. And if you want to get more towing, you must look at the RAV4 Hybrid that offers 1,750 pounds.

If we speak about safety, the 2021 Nissan Rogue comes with Safety Shield 360 technology standard for all models in the lineup. Among the components of this safety system, you'll find intelligent emergency braking to detect pedestrians, blind-spot warning, alert of rear cross-traffic, warning of lane-departure, high-beam assist, and rear intelligent emergency braking. Also, Nissan has upgraded its ProPilot Assist that uses the radar of next-generation and camera technology to deliver smoother braking, better steering assist feel, and advanced detection performance.

The RAV4 is fitted with Safety Sense 2.0 that Toyota describes as upgraded technologies to improve driver capabilities. It comes with pre-collision warning, dynamic radar cruise control, alert of lane-departure, automatic high-beams, assist of road-sign, and lane-tracing assist. As for other safety features, you'll also find the Toyota Star Safety System, the monitor system of blind-spot with rear cross-traffic alert, a backup camera, and a monitoring system of tire pressure.

These are some essential features of these two crossovers. Both have some similarities and some differences. So now you can decide which is right for you.
